Friday and Saturday - Snowbird

Friday we went to Snowbird.  Mariah got us all day passes for Snowbird.  They have a zip line, alpine slide, climbing wall and trampolines.  We went up Friday but it was cold and rainy when we got there so we decided to go back on Saturday.

After we left Snowbird, we went down to the Aquarium.  Good in door activity with the rain and lighting.  The Aquarium is pretty good, for a land locked state.  Myka loves penguins and that had to be the highlight.  They were very active and swimming and running around.

Saturday we went back to Snowbird and it was beautiful.  71 degrees and partly cloudy, but the crowds were unbelievable.  The Tram ride to the top was very pretty.  More pictures on the camera of Snowbird.

After Snowbird we had a Ward party at the park.  There was all kinds of activities for the kids.  The three younger ones got their faces painted.  Myka wore Grandpa's crown.  Last year at the Ward party, we were elected King and Queen of the neighborhood.  We relinquished our crowns to the Butterfields.  Our only official duty was to ride in the 24th of July parade in the neighborhood.

Wednesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 22nd

Wednesday we went to a place called Boondocks.  It's in Draper by the Point of the Mountain.  They have go karts, miniature golf, bumper boats, electronic games, etc.  By far the biggest hit was the bumper boats.  Just like bumper cars, but in water and you could spray other people with the water.  They each got to drive their own boats and spray who ever they wanted.

Thursday morning the boys went shooting at an indoor gun range.  Kenyon and Grandpa have been shooting several times, but Myles could not seem to hold on to the guns very well, so of course, Grandpa had to buy a smaller gun so Myles could shoot.  They bought a .22 pistol and Myles loved it.  Both shot really well and had a ball.

I don't think they took any pictures, but I will check.

Thursday afternoon we went up to This is the Place Monument and State Park.  The kids did not like looking around at the statues and monuments too much and by the time we got there is was too late to go in to the Pioneer Village.  Have to try that another time when we can go in to the Pioneer Village.

Tuesday, August 20th

Tuesday we rode the light rail train downtown to meet Grandpa for lunch at Spaghetti Factory, then rode the train over to the Planetarium.  The kids love to look at the Planetarium and explore.

August 17th through 25th - Musingi kids

After Tyler's baptism, the Musingi kids came home with us for a week with grandma.  We started this about 5 years ago because it always seemed like when Mike and Cristal came down to visit, they had stuff that had to get done, so we decided to take a week and just play.  And play we did!!!

Monday was Cowabunga, a water park in Sandy.

Shaved ice snow cones....

Classic Fun Center with bounce houses, blast zone and laser tag.

Tyler Dille's baptism

August 17th was Tyler's baptism in Murtaugh, Idaho.  Tyler is my sister Pat's granddaughter.  Lisa and the kids have been home to Murtaugh visiting and Tyler got baptized in Idaho.

Jacob and Becca and kids

August 13 and 14th we had Jacob, Becca and their kids in town for a few days.  Jacob and Becca had plans both evening, so we got to "bond" with the grandchildren.

Scott took the kids Tuesday night while I was at Young Women's.  They went to McDonald's for dinner. Barnes and Noble for books and a new video.

Wednesday night we went to the park and played on the swings and the slides.

Davis is about 10 months old.  At first he was not too sure of the swing.  He was pretty nervous at first, but then got to laughing and giggling.

Carson City trip August 2013

Last weekend my sister Jan and I went to Carson City to see our Mom.  She is 90 years old and lives in an Assisted Living facility.  She has macular degeneration and is mostly blind.  She broke her hip a few years ago and the replacement surgery did not go well, so she walks with a pretty good limp.  She has had a few bouts with cancer in recent years and is struggling.

Jan flew out to Reno and we went down to Carson City to spend a few days with Mom.  We got her out of the Assisted Living Center every day and went for drives and adventures.  One day we drove all the way around Lake Tahoe.  It is a beautiful lake with great views.  So many pine trees and we had beautiful weather.

One day we went to Reno and hit some tool stores and shopped around.  Could not get Jan to buy much.  She says she needs to get out to her shop and assess where she is and decide what she needs for her shop.  Really?  What she needs?  Go figure!!

Another day we went to Reno and looked at the Scheels Store in Sparks.  They had some great displays to get in to take pictures.  Jan was 4 wheeling!!!

Reno is working on a Riverwalk down town.  It is not as far along as San Antonio and their riverwalk, but it was still fun.  We found a  park bench in the shade and watched the kids float, tube, swim and play in the Truckee River.  It was a very pleasant afternoon.
