Boxes for graduating Laurel's

Got started late this year and did not quite make graduation time, but the boxes are moving along nicely.  We have 7 Laurel's graduating, so I made 9 boxes, just in case.  Nice to have a few extra.

Have a combination of different types of wood; cherry, mahogony, walnut, purple heart and coffee wood .  These boxes are really cool.  You cut all the rabbits in the boards, glue them up and include the bottom and the lid.  When the glue is dried, you cut the lids off.  Only had a minor issue with one of the lids not coming off right, but that was easily fixed.

Not pictured is the rabbits in the corner to hold the "keys".  They will match the lid, so there will be good contrast.

Weekend in San Francisco

I finally completed probation at Utah County and can now take some vacation time.  I am also working a flex schedule, so I work 9 hour days and take every other Friday off.  Nice to have a bit of freedom again.

We left early on Thursday and drove to Reno.  Friday morning we went down to Carson City to see my Mom, who is in an Assisted Living Center in Carson.  She just had a birthday and celebrated 91  years.

We left Carson City and drove south around Lake Tahoe and down to San Francisco.  Up over Kit Carson Pass, we saw several lakes and vista's.  Love the mountain views.

Then down the road, we found a reservoir where all kinds of fishermen were drowning worms and trying to catch some fish.  Also found a Fish and Game truck stocking the reservoir with new fish.

The driver said he loaded 10,000 fish into the reservoir.

We made it to San Francisco Friday afternoon, got checked in to our hotel and went to our first Giants and Colorado Rockies baseball game.

Our seats were up in the third level, in the area of home plate.  Great seats, great view, but the Giants gave up like 5 runs in the top of the 9th inning to loose.

Friday night was also fireworks after the game.  We debated where they would shoot the fireworks from and if they would have to move people out of the seats to do it.  Duh!! They put a flat boat out in the bay and shot the fireworks up over the bay, outside of the stadium.  Nice setting!!

Saturday morning we loaded up our bikes and went down to Fisherman's Wharf.  Parked the car there and headed to Golden Gate Bridge.  What a trip!!  It was so cool riding along the shore and over the bridge.

After our ride across the bridge, we headed to our second game.  Rode in the bike lanes all the way from Fisherman's Wharf to the stadium.  They had bike check areas so we could check our bike it and not have to worry about the bike or any equipment.

Giants lost the game again in the top of the 9th inning.  Gave up 3 or 4 runs to loose.

Rode the bikes back to Fisherman's Wharf, got the car and took the bikes back to the motel.  Went back downtown for dinner at Fisherman's Wharf.

At dusk went out to Golden Gate Bridge on the Marin County side so Scott could take pictures of the bridge.  Other photographer's had the same idea.  The area was packed.

My phone does not do the photo justice.  Scott had some really cool pictures with his big camera.

Sunday morning, headed home and go in to town around 9:30 PM  Great weekend!!
