Myka's Critters

So over a year ago, I bought the Musingi kids the rubber band weaver kit to make bracelets with rubberbands.  They have played with them a ton and made all kinds of things  They used some of the instructions that came with the kit, but then they got on line and learned how to make all kinds of things.

Hip resurfacing

Scott had surgery scheduled for late August to get the other hip resurfaced.  He had one done about 3 years ago and it has gone very well.  The doctor called and moved his surgery up a month, so that meant I worked one day and was off two more while Scott had surgery and to help him at home.

Scott up walking around the hospital after surgery.

Saturday, Cowabunga and pick up Mom and Dad

Saturday we went to Cowbunga, a water park in Sandy.  The kids loved being there.  Mariah and her kids mete us at the water park.  We played, got wet, cooled off and had fun.

Cristal and Mike had gone to Nevada to visit with my Mom.  They flew in Saturday evening, so we picked them up and went and had dinner.

While in Reno, they took Mom on a dinner cruise at Lake Tahoe.  Mom is doing pretty good.  She is 92 years old and moving around pretty good.

Friday at Snowbird

The last couple years the kids have been down, we have gone to Snowbird to play for the day.  We thought we would try something different and headed to Park City.  Once we got there, the lines were gi-normous and the entry fee was $75 per person!!!

Mariah was at Snowbird so I texted her to see about the lines at Snowbird.  They were not bad at all, so we headed to Snowbird.

Got there around 1:00 and the kids had alot of fun.  They have the Alpine slide, a zip line, a Tram to the top of the mountain, trampolines with safety belts for the kids to do flips and all kinds of jumping.

We met up with Mariah, Derrick and the kids for a while.  Snowbird was outstanding.  95 in the valley, 80 degrees at Snowbird!!!

Thursday, Pioneer day

Thursday was Pioneer Day in Utah, so Scott was off and I had taken the week off with the kids.  The boys went shooting guns, pistols or anything that would go boom.

The girls went shopping for some "girl stuff".

In the afternoon we went to the Fun Center in Sandy. It has all kinds of bounce houses and places for kids to play.  There is a Blast Zone inside the Fun Center with nerf balls and air guns that the kids shoot and throw at each other.  We paid for a 30 minute session, but the kids got to play for over an hour in the Blast Zone.  They had lots of fun.

That night we went to see a movie, Malificient.  We had heard stories that it was kind of dark and would be scarry, but the kids loved it and we had fun.

On the way home we bought some fire works to shoot off for the 24th.

Wednesday

Wednesday we rode the train downtown and met Scott for lunch at Trolley Square.  We rode over to the Planetarium from there and looked around the planetarium.

The planetarium always has cool exhibits to look at and stuff to see.

This was our self portrait in front of a heat sensitive camera.  I am the one taking the picture of the group.

Wednesday afternoon Mike and Cristal drove to SLC because they were flying out to see my Mom in Carson City.  We met them downtown and had dinner at Winger's, then put them on their plane to Reno.

Tuesday with Musingi's

Tuesday we went to the Aquarium.  We have gone to the Aquarium when it was in the old building and loved it.  The owner's built a new, huge building around 12300 South and we have tried several times to go, but the lines were always outside the door.

We went Tuesday morning.

We were a bit disappointed with the Aquarium.  Lots of exhibits closed or under repair.  It was almost like the building was not ready to be opened yet.  Not near as many penguins as the other building.  They really hyped the shark feeding.  That was lame.  They do what they call "targeted" feeding.  One fish at a time, feeding one shark at a time.  Very slow, not much excitement.

Days of 47 Floats

Monday night we went to Southtowne Center to look at the floats for the Days of 47 Parade.  The parades are usually very long and hot to sit outside and watch, so we went to look at the floats inside at the Southtowne Center.  Took some pictures with the camera that I will have to download.

Musingi's week with Grandma and Grandpa

We had Musingi's for the week from July 19-26th.  We did all kinds of fun things.

On Monday, July 21, we went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point.  Lots of hands on stuff for the kids to do.  The pictures above are from a wind machine the kids stood in.  Something like 80 MPH winds.  Hard for the kids to breath or talk while in the booth.

This was in the Motion room.  Not sure what was going on here, but the kids were trying to put stuff together or keep stuff together as the big silver disc was turning.

It was really hot that day and the kids found a water park outside.  Noah's Ark had all kinds of animals around it and lots of water running.

This was good for some outdoor climbing.  There was tons of places for the kids to run and climb inside the building too.

We did not have anyone who fit in this table but I thought it was a great idea for the little kids to play in the water.
