Spring Flowers

In front of our house we have two huge flower beds.  One was there when we moved in.  The other one we built to match the original flower bed.

We like to play petunia's in them for lots of colors and once they fill in, no weeding.

We have had alot of rain in May.  I usually like to play them around Mother's Day.  I have had to do some planting in between all the rain storms.

Finally got them done a couple weeks ago and it has rained every day since.  We have not watered the grass or the flowers for over 3 weeks.

Shelves at Jacob and Becca's

So this past weekend we went to Vernal to build some shelves in Jacob and Becca's house.

They have a large storage room down stairs and needed places to store "stuff".  We did shelves along a 14 foot wall and along an 11 foot wall.  Floor to ceiling.  These are made out of 2 x 4's and OSB on the shelves.  Very strong and sturdy.

Monday night we got a picture from Jacob.  Making use of the shelves already!!  The shelves look great fill up with lots of stuff!!

Davis

So a few weeks ago, Jacob and Becca were down for a doctor's appointment for Bailey.  We had Bailey and Davis in the evening so Jacob and Becca could go out for a while.  While eating dinner, someone asked Bailey what she wanted to do that night.  Her answer was priceless!!  "I don't know, let's see what Grandpa has planned".

We hit Barnes and Noble to get some books and then we were headed to Target for toys.  Davis wanted some trucks.  He is in the phase of needing more and more trucks.

When we hit Barnes and Noble, he did  both things at the same time.  His books were trucks and tractors.  Gotta love the grand kids!!!

Finished the evening watching a movie downstairs and holding both kids in rocking chair.  Yep, this being a grandma is pretty cool!!

New shop Item

Trying to keep things organized in the shop is a constant challenge.  There are all kinds of small items like screws, nails, hardware, hinges, etc.

A few weeks ago, I found a case on KSL classifieds and bought it for a steal!!

It is really heavy and not sure where I want to put it yet, so I built a small cart for it to sit on, with wheels so it can be moved around.  Part of the fun with the shop is moving stuff around to be more efficient and to fit in more stuff!!  I may end up moving this cabinet several times before it find a semi permanent home!!

There are 11 drawers and the cabinet is about 24 inches deep.  Each drawer is divided into 5 sections, with little, short dividers.

I went on line to a company called U-Line.  They have all kinds of boxes and shipping containers.  Found some cardboard trays that will fit in the drawers.  Had to order 100 of them, but should be able to use them all.

So I have been assembling the trays to go in the draws.  I can get two trays in each section, so a drawer will hold 10 trays.  I will have lots of room for storage and organization of the "small" pieces in the shop.  And I can take the trays out and take the try to the workbench to work on stuff.

When I got the trays assembled, they were about 1/2 inch too tall for the drawer.  Came up with a plan to assemble the boxes and then cut 1/2 inch off the back of the tray on the band saw.  It worked like a charm and made the whole process easier.

Granite Installed!!

So the  granite has been installed to the bench part of the lockers.  Gives them a nice finished looked.  Now I just need to get the doors done!!
