This past weekend we rented a U-Haul Trailer and emptied my shop of all the cases I have been working on for the last few months and moved them to my niece's house in Twin Falls, Idaho.
We loaded the trailer Wednesday night and headed north after work on Thursday. We got to my sister's on Thursday night around 10:00.
Friday morning we headed for Twin Falls. Got the trailer unloaded and returned, then started working on some lockers.
Got the base laid out and measured. Marked the studs on the walls so we could secure the lockers to the walls once we got the cases installed. The base was made out of 2 x 4's on edge. There was also a 3" toe kick so you could stand in front of the lockers and your toes go under the lockers, like when you stand at the kitchen cabinets.
Wrapped the base in plastic so if there was moisture in the concrete garage floor, it would not wick up to the cabinets.
Connected the bottom cabinets together and attached the backs once we got to Idaho. The bottom cabinets were pretty deep and I did not want to have to lay down inside of them to screw them together in Idaho.
Placed the bottom cases on the base. My sister Pat is peeking out the laundry room door.
Started putting the lockers on top of the base cases. The bases are 15 inches tall and 21.5 inches wide. The lockers are 62 inches tall. There is a spacer between the bottom case and the lockers to allow for clearance of the doors, face frames and granite that will be on the bench top.
Got the kids involved in the process. Kylee and Kace helped vacuum all the saw dust.
Face frames all attached and six hooks installed in each locker. By this time Saturday afternoon, we were running out of gas and needed to quit. The crown moulding is sitting on top of the lockers. They will be installed next time we go to Twin Falls.
Doors still need to be built. Measured the cases for final measurements and we will build the doors. Doors will go on the upper cabinets and the lockers. No doors on the bottom cases.
