Bailey had her 3rd birthday. Jacob and Becca came to our house because Scott was still not up to climbing stairs at their house.
Bailey is such a sweetie. She loves her Grandpa and loves to visit with him. She loves Polly Pockets and always finds the box of Polly Pockets when she comes to our house.
We got her a Leap Frog reading book for 2-4 year olds. It has a little snowman thing and when you put it over the words in the book, it reads to her. She loved it.
Borrowed the picture of Bailey from Jacob and Becca's blog.

Weeblo Scout!!
Kenyon Musingi just finished his Weeblo Scout ranking. Ken loves scouting and works so hard at earning his badges.
When the kids were down a few months ago, we made a tool box in the shop so Ken could complete one of his badges.
Way to go Kenny!!!

Shop time
Since all the excitement over the holiday's with Scott's heart surgery, there has not been a whole lot of shop time.
Finally able to get out to the shop around the 18th and 19th of January. I had gotten some new "toys" and needed to get them set up and get the empty boxes out of the shop.
The first new toy was a new scroll saw. DeWalt brand. Put it on a cart with wheels, so it can be moved around. Sold the old one I had a few months ago, so it was nice to get this our and set up.
For Christmas, Scott got me this behemoth compound mitre saw. Years ago, he bought me a Rigid mitre saw, but it had a limit of about 8" boards you could cut. This one is a slider, so the capacity goes up to about 12" boards. Big, heavy and very nice. Had to do some minor adjustments to my fence on the bench to accomodate the new saw, but very nice!!!
A few months ago, I bought an old cabinet from a goverment surplus web site. My plan was to adapt it to fit under my drill press for storage.
This is what I started with. Already removed the doors. Paid $10 from the surplus web site. Removed the doors, cut off about 12" from the bottom of the cabinet, put a new bottom on it and casters and it fits very nicely under my drill press. Just need to do some new doors. Gives me a place to put all my drills, chargers, drill bits and other accessories all together by the drill press.
Nice to spend some time in the shop again!!!

The "Owie" on Grandpa's Heart
Scott is healing very nicely and getting stronger all the time. We have had some minor bumps on the road to recovery, but it is going well.
When one of the grandaughter's, Bailey, came to the hospital to see Scott the night before surgery, on the way home, she told Jacob and Becca, BaPa has to heal the owie on his heart so he can take me to baseball games. Kids say the darndest things. Melts your heart some times.
Surgery was on December 27th. Scott came home December 31st. On Jan. 3rd, Scott developed pneumonia. After a trip back to the ER and chest x rays, to confirm pneumonia, we got antibiotics for that and he recovered rather quickly.
On Saturday, Jan. 12th, Scott felt rotten. He was exhausted, short of breath, dizzy and feeling rotten. Another trip to the ER and his heart had gone into atrial fibrolation. Normal heart rate is 60-80. He was 140+. After a few hours, the heart converted back on it's own and no problems since then.
On Tuesday, January 22, Scott returned to the heart surgeron for follow up. He is doing great. The doctor released him to drive and return to work in two weeks, but has to quit when he gets tired and not over due it.
Scott was pretty happy to gain more independence and to keep progressing. Woo hoo!!!

Wow, what a Christmas!!
Had a great Christmas this year. On Christmas Day, got to see all the local grandkids and share some Christmas time with them.
Did not take any pictures, just a good time visiting, talking, opening presents, etc. We went down to Jacob and Becca's because they had been sick. Mariah and Derrick and Tarrin brought their kids over on Christmas day and we had coffee cake, fresh fruit, juice, sausage and a nice relaxed meal.
Wednesday morning, December 26th took us for a ride. We had gotten about 4-5 inches of snow, so Scott and I went out to clean off the drive way. He uses the snow blower, I usually shovel around the sidewalks, steps and the path out the back to the woodshop. Have to keep that path opened.
We usually do the neighbors driveway too because we have a single mom next door to us, but that morning Scott said he could not do that one. Just when we got done, Scott asked if I would go in the house and get his ID. When I asked why, he said we would need it at the hospital.
He had been having heartburn and some shortness of breath. That morning his left arm went numb. Given the history of heart problems in his family, a trip to the ER was required.
We discussed going up to Murray where IHC has a great cardiology unit or go to the local Riverton Hospital, which is about 1.5 miles away. Scott said Riverton Hospital.
I dropped him off at the front door to ER and went to park. He went in. By the time I parked and got inside, he was already in a trauma room and they were drawing blood. They did not mess around.
After a little bit, they came back and said the blood tests showed elevated levels of protein and that he had a heart attack. They wanted to transport him to Murray IHC hospital. He went by ambulance. I went home to get his mom and we went to the Murray Hospital.
When we got there, they did more lab tests and were discussing what to do next. They were debating a stress test and an angiogram. We decided angiogram was best. That was scheduled around 3 or 4. If they could do an stent while there, they would do it.
After the angiogram the doctors said the blockage was too severe and stents were not posible. He would need Open Heart surgery and probably 5 bypasses. There was no emergency, but he was scheduled for surgery at 7:00 the next morning. No emergency, but....
Surgery was Thursday morning, December 27th. Five hours later, he is taken in to Recovery and eventually moved to ICU. Scott spent one day in ICU and on Friday, he was moved to the regular floor.
Scott came home on Monday, December 31st and has been slowly getting better. He developed pneumonia on Wednesday/Thursday and by Thursday afternoon was having real difficulty breathing. Friday we had a doctor's appointment and she checked his lungs. Sent us over to Riverton Hospital for xrays and pneumonia was confirmed.
Another trip to Walgreen's for antibiotics and those have helped a ton. He is breathing better, sleeping better and doing great. He goes for short walks every day and our almost daily excursions out to doctor's appontments reallly tire him out, but he is recovering very nicely.
We feel so blessed and fortunate to have found the heart prolems when we did. No muscle damage in the heart attach and a renewed effort to keep the diabetes in check and he should make a full recovery.
Woo hoo!!!
