The "Owie" on Grandpa's Heart

Scott is healing very nicely and getting stronger all the time.  We have had some minor bumps on the road to recovery, but it is going well.

When one of the grandaughter's, Bailey, came to the hospital to see Scott the night before surgery, on the way home, she told Jacob and Becca,  BaPa has to heal the owie on his heart so he can take me to baseball games.  Kids say the darndest things.  Melts your heart some times.

Surgery was on December 27th.  Scott came home December 31st.  On Jan. 3rd, Scott developed pneumonia.  After a trip back to the ER and chest x rays, to confirm pneumonia, we got antibiotics for that and he recovered rather quickly.

On Saturday, Jan. 12th, Scott felt rotten.  He was exhausted, short of breath, dizzy and feeling rotten.  Another trip to the ER and his heart had gone into atrial fibrolation.  Normal heart rate is 60-80.  He was 140+.  After a few hours, the heart converted back on it's own and no problems since then.

On Tuesday, January 22, Scott returned to the heart surgeron for follow up.  He is doing great.  The doctor released him to drive and return to work in two weeks, but has to quit when he gets tired and not over due it.

Scott was pretty happy to gain more independence and to keep progressing.  Woo hoo!!!
