Shop time

Since all the excitement over the holiday's with Scott's heart surgery, there has not been a whole lot of shop time.

Finally able to get out to the shop around the 18th and 19th of January.  I had gotten some new "toys" and needed to get them set up and get the empty boxes out of the shop.

The first new toy was a new scroll saw.  DeWalt brand.  Put it on a cart with wheels, so it can be moved around.  Sold the old one I had a few months ago, so it was nice to get this our and set up.

For Christmas, Scott got me this behemoth compound mitre saw.  Years ago, he bought me a Rigid mitre saw, but it had a limit of about 8" boards you could cut.  This one is a slider, so the capacity goes up to about 12" boards.  Big, heavy and very nice.  Had to do some minor adjustments to my fence on the bench to accomodate the new saw, but very nice!!!

A few months ago, I bought an old cabinet from a goverment surplus web site.  My plan was to adapt it to fit under my drill press for storage.

This is what I started with.  Already removed the doors.  Paid $10 from the surplus web site.  Removed the doors, cut off about 12" from the bottom of the cabinet, put a new bottom on it and casters and it fits very nicely under my drill press.  Just need to do some new doors.  Gives me a place to put all my drills, chargers, drill bits and other accessories all together by the drill press.

Nice to spend some time in the shop again!!!
