Choir broadcast and President Monson

This year we have church at 1:00, so we took the Young Men and Young Women downtown on Sunday to see the Choir Broadcast and The Spoken Word.

I had not been to a choir broadcast in several years, so I was surprised to see how many people were there.  It was packed.

Turns out it was retirement day for about 60 members of the choir.  Once someone is selected to sing in the choir, they can be a member for 20 years, or until they turn 60, which ever comes first.  Sunday was the last day for 60.

It was a great broadcast and some very good songs, two guest conductors and a nice surprise.  President Monson was in attendance to honor the retiring choir members.

Hard to see, but he was sitting to the right of the choir, under the balcony.  You can see his white shirt.  Fun day.

Truck in the garage!!

So a few months ago, we bought a new truck.  We had a small Ford Ranger pick up and now we have a Toyota Tundra.  Did not even think about it when we bought it, but once we got it home, realized it would not fit in the garage.

When we first moved in to the house, I built shelves in the garage along the front of the garage; wall to wall, floor to ceiling.  Great for storage and to put stuff away.

Saturday I tackled the remodeled of the shelves so the pick up truck would fit in the garage.

Had to take about four units out, two shelves and about 110 inches wide out, so the truck would fit in.

It took most of the day and I was very careful to put in a temporary support to hold the upper shelves while I removed the lower support.  Then I cut 4 x 4 posts and did a 4x4 header for support of the upper shelves.  Measured the length of the truck, the wide of the truck, everything.

Got everything removed, put in the new header and pulled the truck in the garage.  Voila! it fit.  but only by a few inches.  Never measured the height of the truck bed.  I just figured once I got the bottom two cabinets out, it would fit.  Did not have too much room to spare.

Spring is finally here!!

A few  years ago got daffodils and tulips planted in the front flower bed.  This is the best they have looked in the spring since being in the house.  All daffodills so far, no tulips yet.

Went and got lunch today and sat in the park across from the Provo Temple and ate lunch.  It was sunny and warm and the trees are all in blossom so it smelled so good.  Sun felt so nice!!

These are the list six pieces needed for the dust collection system.  I have had the "vacuum" for 2 years and this winter/spring decided to get everything I needed to get it up and running.  It took alot of ordering and shipping of the necessary parts.  These three end caps and clamps close off three branches that I have unused at this point  but allow for future expansion of the dust collection system.

Three branches with nothing hooked to them right now.

The last six pieces hooked to the system to create the closed system.  Woo whoo!!!  Now all the tools are hooked to the dust collection.  Some tools will share the drop down pipes to the collection system, so they have handles and quick disconnect connections.

So once I got this done the other night, I turned on the large "vacuum" to get it a test drive.  The remote switch did not work.  Probably because the battery is dead, I have had it so long.  The switch on the vacuum worked just fine.  Holy Cow!!! did it have good suction.

The longer it ran though, the dustier the air got in the shop.  Then I realized I have had the "vacuum" for so long, I forgot to attach bags to the collector system.  Duh!!  Got the bags installed on Wednesday night and it worked like a charm.

At each of the tools I have blast gates, which allow the air to be sucked from each tool, or turned off.  The guys at the factory suggested I leave one gate opened all the time because I have so much suction, then just opened another tool when I use something else.  I will probably leave the table saw opened all the time.  May have to play with that to see which way works better.

Major job done!!!

Fun Day in Provo

Yep, great day in Provo yesterday.  We started getting notified around 10:00 that the Angel Moroni was going to be placed on top of the temple around 2:30.

The crowds started gathering around 2:00 and it started around 2:30.

I went and sat on the steps of the Historic Courthouse and watched the crane lift up the statute and put down on the Temple.  First time in my life able to witness the placing of the Angel Moroni.
